The National People’s Party (NPP) West Coast Region Regional Chairman, Lamin Jamba Jammeh, has expressed confidence that President Adama Barrow will secure victory in the 2026 presidential election.
Jammeh made the remarks in an interview with The Voice on Tuesday at the party’s regional bureau in Brikama.
He said support for President Barrow remains strong at the grassroots level, adding that many citizens are willing to see him continue in office based on what he described as development achievements.
According to him, despite criticism on social media, the reality on the ground reflects continued public support for the president.
He cited developments in infrastructure, health, education and agriculture as evidence of progress under the current administration.
Jammeh said the opposition is focused on political ambition while the government’s development record is visible across the country.
He urged citizens not to be swayed by what he described as “empty promises” from opposition parties, and called on NPP supporters to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of future elections.
The NPP regional chairman said the West Coast Region under his leadership is working to strengthen the party’s presence and secure more electoral seats.
He also called for political tolerance and urged citizens to avoid divisive politics, stressing that national unity should be prioritised over political affiliation.
Jammeh further encouraged young people to take advantage of opportunities created by government programmes and to focus on skills development.
He noted the importance of youth engagement in economic activities, particularly in sectors such as the coastal economy, where he said many workers are currently non-Gambians.
The NPP continues its preparations as political activity gradually builds ahead of the 2026 presidential election.
