Witness testifies in false pretence case

Lamin Bojang, a police witness, Tuesday testified on false pretence case, which involved Amie  Saine who is currently facing trial at the Kanifing Magistrate Court presiding over by Magistrate Doune Njie on a single count of offence – obtaining money by false  pretence.

Testifying before the magistrate court,  Lamin  Bojang said the accused person told him that she know someone who can help  people to travel to USA but he has to give her money first in other to acquire the visa for him this he said he was told in the midst of people.

He continuing that the accused person and the others opened a group chat but he is not part of the group chat “we used to have meeting but I attended once that was in Kotu.  He said he paid two hundred and seventeen thousand to the accused for the Visa. Also, he said the accused gave him a date that he supposed to travel to USA, but before that day, he called the accused and send her voice mail but the accused didn’t received the calls or reply him.

He said that’s how he informed Lamin Camara that he will like to spend the night in Bakau because he didn’t understand the situation.

Meanwhile, according to the particulars of the offence Amie Saine sometimes in the month of May 2021, at Bakau in Kanifing Municipality,   by false pretence and with intend to defraud ,obtained the sum of D336,540 (three hundred and thirty three thousand and fifty dalssis ) from Lamin A Camara and Lamin Bojang ,with the pretenced that she will secure  a USA Visa for them  ,which representation is false and she knew that to be false at the time ,thereby committed an offence.

The case is adjourned to the 12th of November 2021 at 12: noon, Inspector Touray represented the IGP.
