Army personnel donate blood

Personnel of The Gambia Armed Forces have been donating blood in various government health facilities, as part of activities commemorating World Blood Donor Day

“The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) on Monday, 14th June, 2021 joined rest of the world to commemorated World Blood Donor Day at various government health facilities.

“Part of activities marking the day was voluntary blood donation by members of GAF. Various GAF units led by top GAF Commanders visited government health facilities within their area of responsibilities to “give blood and keep the world beating,” the army said in a statement.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Yakuba A Drammeh and his deputy Major General Mamat O Cham were present at the Kanifing General Hospital in Serekunda. They led the delegation comprising of personnel of the National Guards and the Gambia Armed Forces Training School.

“As part of activities marking the 2021 World Blood Donor Day, personnel of Kudang and Lamin Koto on Monday 14th June, 2021 were at the Bansang General Hospital to donate blood.

This humanitarian gesture is part of GAF’s efforts in complimenting the efforts of the Ministry of Health in ensuring adequate supply of blood to Gambians particularly during these years of COVID-19 pandemic,” the army added.
