Inferno Destroy 35 Stalls at Brikama Market

At least 35 stalls at the Brikama market were burnt down by inferno on Thursday morning, destroying goods and cash.

Speaking to The Voice Newspaper at the site of his burnt stall, Amadou Sillah, a victim said: “The incident left business communities within the market in a condition of despair more especially the victims and the fire consumed virtually almost all our goods and undisclosed cash amount of money.”

Mr. Sillah said he had lost D265, 000.00 cash with other valuable goods, after being doing business at the market for 13 years now.

Alhagi Bah also a victim, told reporters that he lost over D100, 000.00 both in cash and merchandise.

Meanwhile, Ebrima Chaw, who spoke on behalf his brother Barra Chaw after the fire burnt down their stall to ashes said his brother lost over D400, 000.00 worth of goods and cash.

Tamsir Gaye another victim said: “I started business in the market in 1995 and, now l lost over D450, 000.00 worth of goods and an undisclosed amount of money.”

However, the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), Regional Disaster Management Agency (RDMA) in West Coast Region and their Ministry came to deliver  aids to the victims.
