The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has arrested three Nigerian nationals in connection with an alleged fraud involving more than two (D2) million dalasis, according to police statement issued on Wednesday.
The suspects were identified as Stanley Edward, 35, and Fidelis Ibe, 41, both residents of Kololi, and David Chiagozie, 47, of Brusubi.
Police said the three men were arrested on Tuesday by officers attached to the Serekunda Police Station following intelligence reports relating to the alleged scam.
According to the statement, officers recovered D2,272,000 from the suspects during the operation.
The GPF says the suspects have been charged with theft while investigations into the matter continue.
The police reiterated their commitment to combating crime and protecting the public from fraudulent activities.
