Lack of Electricity Supply Hinders Work at Brikama Magistrates’ Court

By Isatou sarr

The Brikama Magistrates’ Court has been operating without a proper electricity supply for over a month due to a faulty meter, affecting court operations and service delivery.

According to a staff member who spoke on condition of anonymity, the situation has created difficult working conditions for magistrates and support staff, particularly during the current hot weather period.

The staff member said the lack of power has also frustrated litigants, as rulings, judgments and sentencing documents cannot be typed and processed in a timely manner.

The source further stated that the Judicial Administration has written to the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) seeking a solution and is awaiting a response.

“We call on NAWEC to act swiftly to address this situation,” the source said.

Court officials say the disruption continues to affect the smooth functioning of judicial services at the institution.
