A Guinean national, Alasana Kondeh, was remanded at Mile II Central Prison on Wednesday, 3rd September 2025, following charges linking him to a phone theft.

According to the court documents, which indicated that on or about 28th August 2025, at Kairaba Avenue in Kanifing Municipality, Kondeh allegedly stole an iPhone 12 Pro Max, valued at D39,276, belonging to Mamour Mbenga, a journalist and football coach.

According to the prosecution, Mbenga (PW1) had brought his football players (team) to the Africell Park at Kairaba Avenue for fitness training. Mbenga stated that he placed his phone on the ground while exercising and later discovered that it was missing. He reported the incident to the Kairaba Police Station, prompting a swift investigation by the CID. The phone was reportedly recovered from a former commissioner, who claimed that Kondeh had brought it to him after allegedly finding it on the ground. Mbenga refuted this claim, noting that calls made to the phone after its loss were repeatedly rejected.

Kondeh, who was addressed in French, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecution requested an adjournment to present a second witness (PW2), which the court granted. The case has been adjourned to Monday, 15th September 2025, for the continuation of the hearing.
