Vickey’s Salon and Skill Center Marks 13th Graduation Ceremony

Vickey’s Hairdressing Salon and Skill Center on Saturday 27th January, organized the 13th graduation ceremony at Ebujan Theater located inBakau.Speaking at the ceremony, Victoria Tamba the owner of Vickey’s hair dressing salon and skill center dilated on the importance of conducting the graduation. She says it is in line with theirinstitutional objective which is to transform the place to be the best skill center in the Gambia. According to her, the center has been compliant with quality assurance standards of NAQAA and as a result is a fully registered and accredited training provider with full compliance with the TVET Policy.

She also noted that their mission was to improve the socio-economic status of youth and early school leavers by providing jobs related skills in the cosmetology and hair dressing industry.

Tamba emphasizes by providing professional skills in the field, their students have a chance of developing their skills and become self-employed and independent. “We offer certificate level for 1 year and diploma level in hair dressing and cosmetology,’’ she explained. 

Cecilia Goddard, from ​Customer Service of the salon and skill center also emphasizes thatcustomers are the life blood of any company, and they must provide them with the best possible service to meet their needs and exceed their expectations. “These include actively listening to customers, understanding their unique needs and tailoring their services accordingly.’’ “We must also be friendly, approachable, knowledgeable and responsive to their needs, addressing their concerns promptly and professionally,”   Goddardadded.

By delivering exceptional customer service, she says, they can establish strong relationships with their customers and foster their loyalty leading to more business opportunities.

Miss Priscilia O Annan, an ex-student of the center revealed that she joined the salon with no skills. “Today I am a hair dresser and a superior makeup expert, I have my own salon (Divrishsalon) in which I am self-employed and providing service to ladies thanks to Vickey’s hair dressing salon and skill center.”

She further added that she has an encouragement from her wonderful teachers and also advised her fellow students to stay focus and be determined.
