By Gambia Police Force

The Gambia Police Force, in collaboration with NAWEC, havearrested twelve individuals for illegally bypassing electricity connections and tampering with Cashpower meters in a week-long operation.

These arrests were made in various locations, including Mandinary, Busumballa, Wellingara, Serekunda market, Sanyang, Kanifing South, Lamin village, Fajikunda, Wellingara, Latrikunda Sabiji, and Jambanjelly.

The arrested individuals have been released on bail, while technicians, Musa Jobe and Bubacarr Seedy Camara, who were involved in these illegal activities, are cooperating with the police investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed that they charged their clients between D1500.00 to D15,000.00.

In light of this, the public is reminded that such activities deprive NAWEC of the revenue necessary for their daily operations and maintenance, which, in turn, affects the quality of services they can provide. These actions are considered criminal offenses, and the police urge the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station as this operation continues.
