The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA), Mr. Kebba Tamsier Njie, has vowed that the GPA’s enduring legacy of being the number one State Owned Enterprise would be sustained, adding that the Authority has a managing director, who can make its engine tick.

He explained that the GPA has placed The Gambia in the vanguard of regional trade.

“The Authority is the number one State Owned Enterprise. It has been so for decades. It has placed The Gambia in the forefront of regional trade and must regain and maintain that glory,” board chair Njie recognized as he spoke at the opening ceremony of GPA’s retreat at the Princess Hotel on Tuesday.

Mr. Njie emphasized that despite these feathers on its cap, the GPA will not rest on its laurels.

“We will continue to encourage and invest in you; our staff, to be the best, and make the institution, once again, the place that every good product would want to work,” he promised.

Mr. Njie gave the staff of the GPA the assurance that the man at the helm of affairs at the Authority knows what it requires to lubricate its engine.

“You have a Managing Director, who knows too well, what it takes to make the Authority’s Engine tick. I urge, on behalf of the Board, that you rally behind him as one strong team supported by the Board to perform beyond expectation. We are encouraged that you will live up to the billing to meet all targets as set out in the Performance Contract. We have all the confidence in you that you will do the needful,” Board chair Njie stated.
