Over 1000 species of trees transplanted in Jonyerr and Jomokunda forests

At least 1400 species of tree were on Sunday, 20th August 2023 transplanted at the Jonyerr and JomokundaForest in West Coast Region.

The tree planting exercise was coordinated by the Councilor for Kanilai Ward Hon Tijan Manga while the Chairman of Brikama Area Council, Mr. YankubaDarboe, Director Generals within the region, the Regional Forestry Officer, and other top officials of the BAC attended the exercise.

The Kanilai Ward Executive and Councilor for BwiamWard Hon Ousman Jammeh and the community of Jonyerr and Jomokunda youths, women, and elderly people were also joined in the exercise.

As agile as an ant, Councilor Tijan Manga said thanked everyone that joined in the tree planting exercise saying in any condition or situation “we should always play our part as genuine citizens and do our best no matter how small it might be.”

He noted that the Kanilai Ward will not be behind in development, especially with the dynamic leadership of the Brikama Area Council, Mr. Yankuba Darboe and his team,

He added that there is no time to waste while assuring them of unexpected projects for the people of Kansala.

Among the transplanted seedlings trees included Gmylina, Mahogany, “Taloo”, Monkey Bread, and so on.
