Fonika are nonviolent .Says MP Colley

Honorable Amie Colley, National Assembly Member for Foni Berefet has emphasized that the people of Foni West Coast Region are nonviolent and if they were one they would have created violence since 2016.

Speaking at a press conference recently in Kampanti, she stressed that the people of Foni are better known for peace and now for violence and they were interested in violence. They started following the fall of the former Gambian leader Yahya Jammeh who hailed from Foni.

She recalled that from 2016 to date the citizens of Foni continue to be killed and they are patient with that, knowing how painful it is for your relative to be killed and they are still patient.

Hon. Colley pointed out that looking into the Gambian history Foni is among the first settlers in the Gambia and the location of Foni in the Gambia’s map shows that they are not new settlers or rebels and let people stop labeling them as rebels.

She allegedly accused the Gambian leader of being aware of everything happening to the people of Foni but continues to be mute about it, saying she released audio that has reached the President and he listened to it.

If Barrow wants to unite Gambians, Foni is ready to strengthen that unity, but why are all these problems only centered in Fonts, they are killing us, beating us, and our people are being taken by the Senegalese soldiers for detention in Senegal and with all this, we continue to be patient while we are still calling on the government to do something about this because the pain is too much,” Colley said.
