BRIKAMA’S RISING STAR

WHO IS CHRONIkO?

Chroniko, a Brikama based singer also the winner of the ’NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR’’ in 2019 on the ‘’Wah sa halat’’ Forum, and for the most known for the slogans: Lubutukesso, Afobang, Luwo, BigBRRR, BigBuba, Stylo etc. Talks to The Voice.

Chroniko is a ghetto youth and describes himself as a cool and low key person, doing music the Raster man way and suiting the demand of the current generation. He fuses his songs with Hip Hop, Afro etc, to gain a different pattern. ‘I am the poor people’s defender, he announces.

Chroniko was inspired by people like Dr. Touray, 2Pac, P Mack etc. His dad loves to listen to music too, ‘‘we got that vibe from the family’’ Chroniko proudly tells.  ‘’The environment I was raised in influenced my decision to become a musician because it is the only way I see that I could influence my society, spread my believes and be the voice to the voiceless since I could not do all of these through education’’. The singer reported.

Chroniko’s high school days cleared his mind to the decision of solely concentrating on music and this was as a result of his engagement with communities, discovering his ability to perform on a stage and at most was that those where the days he started moving with people who were already into music and this paved a clear path for him too. ‘’From this moment on, I knew that I was better than just listening to music’’ He told.

One of Chroniko’s greatest motivator, help and inspiration was P Mack. He was the first to ever take the singer to a studio to confirm his abilities. The two did a collaboration which set the pace for the young singer and marked the beginning of his music career. For this Chroniko remains grateful to the support P Mack rendered to his career development.

CHRONIKO’S DREAMS

On contributing to society, the singer said his plans are to restore righteousness because it covers everything yet it is lacking in this country as well as in the world. Chroniko’s music stands for peace, preaches love, represents the voiceless, gives hope and preaches truth.

CHRONIKO’S MUSICAL JOURNEY

Music isn’t easy but there is always light at the end of the tunnel. The journey of building a music career is never an easy one but through all the hardship he knows he is going to conquer.  Chroniko reveals that the journey had been tough and explains that there has been disappointment, trials and tribulations but overall the journey has been interesting, full of experiences and it’s all worthy.

CHRONIKO’S FIRST EP

The singer’s most appreciated album was ‘’lobutukesso’’ which was released in 2019-2020. This was his first EP and biggest project. This song was the game changer for the singer and won him the title ‘’NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR’’ on the “Wahsahallat” Forum.

CHRONNIKO’S EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Chroniko had been to various parts of the country pursuing his education. He started in Badibou Kerewan, moved to Siffo and then to Gunjurr. He started high school at Muslim high and then transferred to SOS High and finally graduated from Brikama Methodist Academy.
