Gambia’s coach Tom Saintfiet wanted by Tunisia head of WCQ

Rumours have it that the head coach of the Gambia national team, Tom Saintfiet is believed to be wanted by the Tunisian national team.

Saddick Adams, a prominent Ghanaian sports journalist tweeted that “Job flying in for Gambia head coach Tom Saintfiet and quite expected.”

He added that Algerian footy reports that the Belgian-Gambian coach is a top target for the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia for their World Cup qualifiers (WCQ)

“Tom has flown to Belgium to cool off for a week but there are two other National Team jobs on his table. Not sure how Gambia can retain him,” Saddick Adams further tweeted.

This came after the Tunisians were beaten by Coach Tom Saintfiet and his inexperienced Gambia side at their final Afcon group stages match, in what was a maiden appearance for the Gambia in the continental showpiece.

According to reports, Gambia’s camp also indicated that the Belgian is interested in moving away as Tunisia is willing to put a much better salary on the table for him.

Tom has had experience in African football as he coached nations like Togo, Namibia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe before becoming the first coach in history to qualify the Gambia to the Africa cup of nations where they reached the quarter-finals in their debut appearance.
