A District Tribunal in Essau Tuesday convicted the former Manager of Niumi FM radio station, Bubacarr Sonko, AKA DJ Rocky Bi, for stealing while he was ordered to pay sum of D200,000.00 (two hundred thousand dalasis) to the proprietor of the Radio Station, Yahya Sonko in default to serve a five-year jail term.
Also, the District Tribunal as presided over instructed him to pay D10,000 to the police or serve two years in prison.
Mr Sonko was dragged to court sometimes in 2020 after he has diverted the sum D190,000 money belong to the Nuimi FM Radio Station to his personal account. The money was paid to the Niumi FM Radio Station by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education for online class services as provided by the radio station.
The proprietor of the Essau based Radio Station; Yaya Sonko told The Voice that the accused is in the hand of police until he settles the payment as ordered by the District Tribunal.
