CG Darboe: GRA will not compromise integrity

The Commissioner General of Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) has cautioned his staff not to compromise with integrity, ethnics and professionalism in executing their duties as revenue collectors.

The Commissioner General, Yankuba Darboe Friday, 17th December advised his staff while presiding on the opening ceremony of a two days seminar organized for the staff of GRA under the department of Human Resources and Administration. The seminar was held at the Senegambia Beach Hotel, Kololi.

CG Darboe described the above three pillars as paramount and important in their daily works as revenue collectors.  He reiterated that “GRA will not compromise its integrity, ethics and professionalism at any cost.”

According to him GRA is a highly respected corporate institution in the country and staff of GRA particularly those at the Department of Human Resources and Administration should lead by example.

According to any institution that doesn’t have a strong Department of Human Resource and Administration will find it difficult to perform well as expected, one of the reason that GRA is different from many other institutions,

He noted that currently GRA has more than 150 young graduates with Masters, PhD among other degrees that has greatly helped GRA to perform extremely well every year.

GRA boss further expressed delights over his Human Resource  Department staff saying they are doing very well in ensuring that the welfare of the staffs are address , as well that staff s are punctual ,  code of conduct and neatness are observed in GRA.

According to him the objective of this training was to bring most of the staff under the Department of Human Resources at GRA and take stock of their performance, concern, challenges, and see how far they have gone during the year.

He used the opportunity to advised his staff that Department of Human Resource have a bigger role to play to coordinate and manage staff, therefore, the staff of Department of Human Resource should lead by example.

For his part, Director of Department of Human Resource and Administration Ernest Mendy commended the management of GRA for ensuring that staff under the Department of Human Resources benefited from the organised trainings of the GRA.

He noted that the importance of this training cannot be over emphasised for the fact that the staff under this department has used the opportunity of it to discuss various areas of concerns that are affecting them at work place.
