Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, leader of the United Democratic Party, has promised a free university education if he’s elected into the presidency in December.

Speaking at a rally in Upper River Region, he said: “any child from grade 1 to grade 12 and in the university without scholarship, my government`s first 5 years will be to get money for them to have free University education and the Arabic educational schools (Majilis) will also not be left out as they play a major part in the country`s educational sector, this is part of our plan.”

“My government will eradicate irregular migration to mitigate the level of lives being lost in the Mediterranean Sea to Europe or other parts of the world. All our youth are leaving the country using a boat that sink in the ocean with the hope that they are going to Europe to find job (but died in sea) we are not burying them as we should. They are looking for job when they scrutinize their papers and came to realize that they are nationals of other countries, it becomes another issue for them,” he said.

According to him, “if you want to become a plumber, and pastry this are what we want to bring in the country so that f the youth complete their training the government will have budget so that they can have material to explore their talent. In that case the government will not be asking for any profit except service charge that will not be more than 3%.”

He also said his government will empower livestock management, by buying sheep’s and cattle`s from other countries and import them to the Gambia for sale.
