Darboe dismisses Barrow’s 3 years Jotna claim

By Mustapha Jarju

Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, the United Democratic Party presidential candidate has dismissed President Adama Barrow’s claim on accusing him of being behind the banned Three Years Jotna

Barrow earlier said “Three Years Jotna’s chief executive officer is my own father Alhaji Ousainou Darboe. But when I throw teargas on them and to this day… You know I told my security leaders that it takes a fight to end a quarrel. From that day to now, Three Years Jotna died in this country as if it never existed. And when they realized that the plan has failed, my elder entered into the house and said ‘we should come up with a new plan.’”

But in his respond, lawyer Darboe said: “you [Barrow] said I am the CEO of ‘3years Jotna’, Adama you know between you and God that in cabinet when OJ said when the time for the 3years came government should leave power if the government did not leave power he will resign.

“A president should not come and say things that are not true and a president should not say a thing which if you judge you would realize it as falsehood,” he said.

“When Halifa said in 3years Adama Barrow should leave power I told him leave me with them let me show them what the law said, is today that you will say I am their CEO even if I am their CEO why don’t you charge and take me to Court?” he added.

Meanwhile, he said that the UDP is not interested into crowd competition saying they are into competition of ideas and programs.

“Alhamdulillah, I thank God, from Koina to Kartong, from Barra to Passamas I did not hear anyone in the Gambia saying the UDP 5-point agenda is not serious, it is not something that can take this country forward or it cannot be something that can work in the country, I have never heard anyone saying that here,” he said.
