Barrow home village, others to get health centres

The ministry of health has announced the construction of health centres in President Adama Barrow’s home village, Makamang Kunda and four other villages.

The villages including Mamakamag Kunda are  Salikennia, Jaali, Kissima, Sarreh Jideh in Tumana district.

Signing a construction deal between the ministry of health and Gamworks, Ebrima Cham Special Adviser at Gamworks said health is a priority for all Gambians while he described the contract important “because the five clinics will have a huge impact in the communities that they will be constructed,”

“We went through a difficult procurement process and we are happy that the contractors that have emerged from this procurement process are really capable contractors, we expect that the contractors will deliver on time and to the quality that is really expected to have a meaningful health impact on the lives of the citizens,” he said.

Alagie Baboucarr Jabang, Director of Finance and Admin at Gamworks said: as well alluded to the previous speaker as highlighted the importance of the health facilities to the beneficial communities.

He went on saying that the ministry of health is all out to serve the nation in fulfilling its mandate as a ministry responsible of all matters of health in this country.

‘’The ministry of health and Gamworks have signed many such management contracts but this is an exemplary one because it is timely they are in five lots and lot one is signed with Tanzil company; Lot two Bafaad enterprise;   lot three we can construction; lot four with Gambel and five with Gach construction. These are all our Gambian companies and is important we help our own Gambian companies,” he added.

Farba O. Sillah, managing director of Bafaad enterprise said: “60 Gambians would be employed by the five contractors, multiplying that by five you will get 600. people will be employed and the money will be shared between three hundred families and that can serve as a means of discouraging illegal migration.”
