Kebba Lang Fofana, National People’s Party’s Youth Wing Secretary General has claimed that Gambian youth are ready to re-elect President Adama Barrow, citing that his government has registered staggering development.
Speaking at a rally in Banjul, Mr Fofana said: “Your Excellency, distinguish guest, ladies and gentlemen, youth compatriots, I am delighted to announce with clarity that majority of the youth of this country are 100% ready to re-elect His Excellency President Barrow, party leader and Secretary General of NPP as President of The Gambia come December 4 presidential election. With no doubt His Excellency Adama Barrow has proven to be a unifying leader, peaceful, respectful and above all upholds the cardinal principles of democracy and freedom of speech and expression.
“The infrastructural developments achieved in your almost 5years span of leadership are staggering pace compared to your predecessors and we are confident that the next five years of your presidency shall place The Gambia among the giants of not only Africa but the world at large.”
“These are not mere political sentiments but solid facts based on the recent milestones of your campaign promises, the approval of the Access To Information bill and the National Assembly Service act shows how committed your administration is, in response to the campaign promises made. It also shows the readiness of your administration towards transparency and accountability to the masses. It is without doubt that, the access to information bill is core in addressing maladministration and corruption, and the national service act further strengthens the parliament to better discharge it’s duties in serving as an independent oversight organ. These are great milestones for our country and could only be achieved with a great leader,” he added.
He went further saying “as we present to you over 10,000 youths, I will like to focus on reminding the youth of this country that the development of this country can only be facilitated by our very selves. With dedication and commitment and more importantly with togetherness, we can realize the dream country we are all yearning for. It is with great pleasure that we converge here today as energetic youths, to instil the spirit of diversity, togetherness, tolerance and unity. These are the great values of our Leader, Our President, Our Secretary General and Saleable Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Adama Barrow, and these are the living spirits that anchor our mighty NPP.
“On this auspicious occasion we can say to, the future of this country is in our hands, lest we forget we have a responsibility of consolidating the gains of our government in propelling this great country. In cognizance of the above, the NPP shall establish a clear roadmap for youth empowerment by establishing regional institutions for skills transfer, entrepreneurship advancement and more importantly create avenues to educate party militants on the values of NPP, and the roles and responsibilities of the youth in national development and patriotism,” he expressed.
