‘Gambians should have sense of Belonging in nation building’ – Suwaneh

Sulalyman Junkung Sawaneh, a Gambian Denmark based philanthropist has called on Gambians to have sense of belonging towards development of their beloved country, The Gambia.

He made this called on Saturday in an interview with members of press in his Bakoteh residence where he talked about people actions towards development and highlight few among his philanthropic engagement in the country for the past 20 years.

The problem having in The Gambia, according to him, is peoples’ attitude towards each other. He said if this is not change it will bring nothing good except backwardness and hatred among people.

“As Gambians, we need to change our attitude because what we are saying is different from what we are having in minds our country cannot develop if we are divided in our thinking and ideas,” Sawaneh explained.

He bemoaned of some citizens attitude while he urged Gambians especially the political leaders and their sympathizers to stop making personal attack and false allegations to each other on social media this in particular on whatsApp groups and other political platforms.

According to the Gambian philanthropist, the problem within the country lies on all Gambian shoulders “talking and attacking each other on WhatsApp groups and other media platforms will not take us anywhere.”

Commenting on his philanthropic gesture to the country, he said among other things that he was the first Gambian to donate radios and TVs to mile 2 Prison adding that there is no health facility in the country which didn’t benefit from his donated medical items.

“Just recently we donated a set of one flat screen and a fridge each to seven health centers in the North Bank, Lower River and Central River Regions,” he revealed.

The latest of his donations was recently when he donated According to Sawaneh, last week they also donated 15 blood pressure machines to 15 communities in the North Bank Region and wheelchairs to the needy persons thus promising that other regions will also benefit from similar gesture.
