Basse Area Council lays foundation stone for three bridges

Basse Area Council has laid the foundation stone for Song Kunda, Samba Lolo and Baja Kunda Bridges.

The honourable Chairman of Basse Area Council Foday Danjo emphasized the value for tax payers’ money and quality work that the council is expecting from the contractors. He also mentioned that these projects were derived from the strategic plan of the council and thus complimenting government’s efforts in achieving the National Development Plan of The Gambia.

Access to Road for patients, students and other people is key in socioeconomic development and this can enhance the flow of business service in this sub region where Upper River Region is situated as a hotspot to many Nationals in Western Africa.

“We at Basse Area Council believe in collective responsibility and efforts in combating the problems of our taxpayers,” chairman Foday Danjo said.

“Access to roads for patients, students and other people is keys in socioeconomic development, and this can enhance the flow of business service in this sub region where Upper River Region is situated as a hotspot to many Nationals in Western Africa,” he added.

The council described it as a historic day for Basse Area Council and its residents especially the three villages that have benefited from this multi-million dalasis projects all and solely funded by Basse Area Council, adding that almost a month ago, Basse Area council revealed the approval of the construction of three bridges and two road projects namely:

“Basse Manneh Kunda Concrete Road construction, Sare Manson –Sare Bojo gravel road, Sabi -Samba Lolo Bridge, Baja Kunda – Bridge, Song Kunda Bridge.  Out of these five projects, the foundation stones for the three respective Bridges were laid today and work has commenced. Local government stakeholders, regional stakeholders, council staff and the media were all present in this historic development that has been pending for decades without been considered,” the council statement disclosed.
