GAP vows to save Gambia from poverty

Opposition party, Gambia Action Party (GAP) has vowed to save the country from poverty and addressed the continued rise insecurity if Gambians vote the party to lead the nation.

Speaking to The Voice exclusively, the party’s secretary general, Sheikhna Faal said: “our party has ways of eradicating poverty in the Gambia if they happen to gain power in 2021 presidential elections.”

“Our natural resources will be used to develop the country and that will assist to cut off the begging syndrome and the bad loans issue which is becoming a tradition. We will give the Gambians people their priority to determine their interest first before anything else.

“Our Economy is sinking and we keep on taking loans upon another adding that and no foreign country or power will dictate how we run our country,” he added.

According to him, his party has engaged the government and all political leaders to come together to have a unique plan on how to develop the country, stressing that “our aims and objectives are beyond expectations and will always fight for the Gambians to rise from its ruins and provide job opportunities for the youths.”

He pointed out that with a population less than two million and over 56 years self-rule nothing has been achieved for Gambians to be proud of.

“GAP will develop strategies to make sure that importation is minimal, eat what we grow so that our economy can be rise and regaining respect from other countries will be maintained and foreigners will not have power more than the citizens.”

He further assured that GAP will either lead or be part of the next government and the party will be the people’s choice in December 4th presidential election.

“The situation is very poor in terms of essential commodities, murder cases, robbery, raping yet government did not take any step to punish the culprits. The government needs to feel the grieve of the Gambian people, when shall the Gambian people rejoice after the narrow escape from Jammeh,” he said.

He urged Gambians to tighten up their belts and save the country from this terrible situation as the sovereignty of the country lies in their hands.
