The government has been urged to help build Fire Service Station in Laiminkoto in Central River Region (CRR), as the villagers raised concern over frequent fire outbreaks in the community.

Jabbie Kunda was recently burnt down by a fire causing loses of household material including food and clothes.

Lamin Jabbie told The Voice that the fire outbreak was due to electrical failure in one of the rooms.  He explained that it is the captain of the nearby soldier’s camp that organized his boys to help them put-off the fire when it occurred.

He complained that they called the fire fighters in Bansang but they were unable to arrive due to some of the problems they encountered at the ferry crossing point.  Adding that the fire fighters met the port workers at the ferry station closed but before they could call the workers to cross the ferry it took them almost 3hrs, while the fire has already ravaged the entire house including items inside.

According to him, if there is a fire station in Laminkoto some of the disaster caused by fire outbreak would have been limited.

He reiterated that the Fire station in Basang encounter problem at the ferry crossing point.
