Author gives in-depth meaning of ‘Hakilo’ book

Yusupha Jaiteh, the author of a book titled ‘HAKILO’ has brought together five different Islamic Associations group to review and give an in-depth meaning of his book.

Among associations that present at the reviewing forum which took place at NaNA conference Centre Kanifing on Thursday included World assembly for African youths, Association for propagation of Islamic teaches, Gambia scientist Association were among associations that graced the event.

The title of the book Hakilo means brain and contents of the book explained fully some problems facing by the youth in general.

According to the author, the book eeks to enlighten youths about social development, and  the perilous ‘backway’ route to Europe.

Yusupha Jaiteh, the author gave reason behind the writing of the book saying he realized the problems that youths are facing in the country, which is one of the reasons they embark on this risky journey just to provide for their families. “In the process, some lost their lives trying to reach Europe,” he said.

Mr Jaiteh, who almost flees Senegal to seek for asylum during the era of the former President Yahya Jammeh, shared some of the challenges facing migrants especially undocumented ones saying “they face absolute suffering.”

He lashed out at African leaders as people who don’t care about the wellbeing of their citizens “they only care for themselves and not the people.”

He expressed his disappointment over no response from President Adama Barrow’s office since 2018 that he has presented his book to him.

Despite his claims that some National Assembly members blocked his way, he still urged the youths to come together as a family and fight against the ‘backway’ journey.

Suwaibou Jammeh, president of scientist association, took the gathering through history saying during the Atlantic slave trade when Mungo Park and Alvisco da Cadamosto visited The Gambia it was call the sea road but now is (Back Way).

“The solution is that why not we make sure to develop our own country without travelling to other countries. Yusuf came up with an idea and wrote a book entitled Hakilo and in life you cannot exist without the mindset and we will stand by him to make sure the youths of this country are save.

Muhammad Touray, president of world assembly for African youths said the author’s work is not for anything but did it as a patriotic citizen and the love he has for his country.
