I Have Good Reasons to Join NPP – Chairman of Kuntaur

Saihou Jawara, Chairman of Kuntaur Area Council (KTR) stated categorically that he has reasons to join the ruling party, which he never regrets to say.

Giving reasons why he defected from the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) to the National People’s Party (NPP) as announced at Ballangharr Kerr Nderry during the President’s meet the People’s Tour currently ongoing. He announced his defection to the NPP on Thursday, December 10th, 2020.

He said among reasons for the defection include his strong believe in the development initiatives undertaken by the President as manifested in the region.

“I don’t want to disclose all those people who make my appearance at this occasion, Your Excellence, you know and I know. Your Excellency, I want to disclose to you our readiness to work with you and rally behind you, we know you are here to work and we are also here for same thing,” said Chairman Saihou Jawara as he announced his defection to NPP.

He added: “Your Excellency, I Saihou Jawara, I want to affirm that as from today I resign from the GDC to come and join you in your development initiative.”

In a resignation letter addressed to the Secretary General of Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), and copied to the IEC Regional Office Janjanbureh, Governor Central River Region, GDC Regional Desk Officer, Regional Chairman, Party Secretary and to all media houses, linking his resignation to GDC’s lackluster attitude and lack of interest for him and his electorates from campaign time to date.

“I regret to inform you of my decision to resign from the party with immediate effect owing primarily to series of alienation and unfair treatment meted out to me during the period under review. During, the campaign period vying for the position of a chairman for Kuntaur Area Council, I have not received equal treatment with other party candidates. When I won the seat as a chairman of the council and the subsequent petition of the result by the United Democratic Party (UDP), I was left to fend for myself paying for my lawyer until the court declares I won the seat of the chairmanship devoured of any fraud as claimed by the UDP,” Chairman Jawara wrote.

Among other reasons adduced, Jawara said since he won the Chairmanship of the region, either support not visit was made by any executive members of GDC to his region or office, adding that the party also failed to support or show any sympathy to him or his electorates or the council during the difficult times of covid-19.
