We are grateful to AAITG and EU – Kumbanyi Women.

Madam Sarjo Camara the Project Coordinator and the Fundraising Manager for ActionAid International The Gambia (AAITG) Saidina Alieu Jarjou just completed a one week monitoring and evaluation process on the European Union (EU) funded project on Strengthening Women’s Economic Initiatives in Southern Central River Region (CRR).

The project has many areas of interventions ranging from gardening, poultry, tie & dye and batik, cash support, small ruminant rearing, milling machines, and alternative livelihood skills training.

The Purpose of this monitoring field visit is to examine how prepared are the beneficiaries on the sustainability of the project and to determine whether the progress to date shows any areas of concern, thus enabling the Monitoring Team to propose a corrective action where necessary.

The monitoring team visited the project sites and beneficiaries both at their homes and the field to have first-hand information on the impact of the project as well as the challenges they are confronted with regarding their livelihood and sustenance.

Speaking to a cross section of the beneficiaries Sarjo Camara advised them to effect measures that will ensure that the support received are utilized effectively, correctly and per the objective of the project.

The women of Kumbanyi are among the beneficiaries who were supported with a state-of-the-art garden equipped with a multifunctional platform, waiting sheds and toilets, among other amenities.

Speaking to a representative of the women’s garden Kumba Suso thanked AAITG and the European Union (EU) for the support. She added that they are grateful and appreciates the timely intervention of the project, as it came at the right time when they were in need.
