Gambians Association Norway donates 75 laptops to schools, institutions

Gambians Association in Norway through its representative, Sheik Tijan Nyang, Wednesday donated over seventy laptops to various institutions and school in the country.

The beneficiaries of the gesture included Saint Augustine High School, National Library, Jeshwang Juvenile Wing Prisons, Fajara Skills Center.

In the past Gambians Association Norway has donated to the University of The Gambia, Gambia College, Gambia High School, ITToG, Kerewan Upper Basic and Secondary School, Demfai School and Banjul City Council and in November 2019 donated cheque for D100,000 to the Truth Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) as their contribution towards victims’ support.

In brief, Mr Sheik Tijan Nyang, a representative of the association here in The Gambia applauded the member for their continuous support to various institutions in the country.

He reiterated that the latest donation is not the first time of the association making presentation or donation to different institutions in the country as the association’s gesture even included disaster’s victims.

He added that the association has also contributed to paying of school fees for students in the medical, law schools among others. “Also there is sponsorship packages given out by Gambians Association in Norway with supports from different individuals as supports to the needy are concern.’

Giving a breakdown of the donated laptops, he said 20 of the laptops was given to the  Jeshwang Juvenile Prisons, 15 to Fajara Skills Centre, 20 to St Augustine while 20 went to the National Library through the Banjul North Member of Parliament Ousman Sillah who had made a request on behalf of the Library as a support to them.

He therefore thanked the school management of Kuben High School, Oslo and its Rector Mr Kjell Hauge for the donation of the computers and supporting the Gambian Association in Oslo Norway.

He extended appreciation to all member of the association and in particular Omar Drammeh the secretary general for being very active in all works the association is doing.

Mr Nyang therefore urged recipients to put the items in to good use to enable them receive more in nearest future.
