Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, leader of United Democratic Party (UDP) has flashed his mind back at  his party struggled under the 22 years of  the country authoritarian  ruled  by ex-president Yahya Jammeh, saying  that UDP   is not a match to its political opponents.

Addressing thousands of UDP supporters in Baddibu Salikene, North Bank Region, he said “UDP is the only party in The Gambia that is ready to be jailed and killed for the sake of the country.”

He went further that “there is no other political party in the country that is ready to defend the interest of the Gambia more than the United Democratic Party (UDP). Whether you are a political scientist or historian, sociologist or whatever you maybe UDP has tens of your types in its ranks and files.”

According to him, others   qualification is not the interest of UDP and also the party is not interested in political activities that cannot produce results, stressing that whatever theories or whatever ideologies or qualifications the UDP has   are in their possession.

He urged party militants to nurture and protect the budding voters as well as to ensure that there is no second round of voting in the forthcoming elections.

He pointed out    that it is the duty of the militants to ensure that all their families got registered and vote massively for the United Democratic Party.

“From today,” he said “let’s nurture our nurseries; these are the young ones from 16-19 years. Let us make sure they all registered and massively vote for the UDP to avoid second round of voting. UDP said no second round of voting and this we can do it”, Darboe tasked militants.
