NCCE Wrapped-up Sensitization on Democracy in Gunjur

National Council for Civic Education (NCCE), TANGO and United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) on Thursday wrapped-up their third face of country-wide sensitization on Democracy, Political Pluralism, Tolerance, Civic Rights and Duties in Gunjur town, Kombo South District of West Coast Region.

The theme for the sensitization according to our reporter who was covering the event was: “Strengthening Democracy and Good Governance in The Gambia thus funded by UNDEF through TANGO.”

Speaking at the forum, the head Chief of Kombo South District, Lamin Darboe saluted NCCE, TANGO and UNDEF for their timely sensitization on issues that is currently the most urgent talk of the country and it need to be address.

Chief Darboe urged his district communities to crab the opportunity in order for them to know the difference between party politics and national development, adding that the forum is something that his district communities welcomed wholeheartedly with any reservation.

Kombo South head Chief assured the organizers of the forum that the communities within his district will fully respect the law of the country while calling on the political leaders as servant to the people who put them into public offices.

The alkalo of Gunjur town, Alhaji Giki Darboe on behalf of his community expressed his gratitude to NCCE, TANGO and UNDEF for choosing his community to host the event out of other communities within the district.

Gunjur alkalo Giki Darboe described the forum as a good idea while stating that the forum is an educative forum for all Gambians despite their political, tribe, religious affiliations and geographical locations.

‘These are the only forum that can bring awareness to Gambians especially on Democracy and other issues currently bordering the citizenry and you should continue sensitizing Gambians about their civic rights and duties in the country”. Darboe urged organizers.

Officials from NCCE like its senior program officer, Yusupha Bojang, senior civic education officer, Ansumana Yarboe and civic education officer, Junkung Saidy both highlighted the significant role NCCE is doing when it comes to sensitizing Gambians about their civic rights and duties in the country.
