Hon. Sainey Touray, chair of the community said that the waste management is vital to the health of the people and called more support for the area council to deal with the challenges of waste management in the country.

“The Council needs financial resources, human resources and materials to properly handle the tasked. They need bigger trucks to collect the waste and dump it without having to utilize bare hands to do so,” he said.

According to him, this will lessen the time and wealth required to do their job, adding that it will also help them protect their health with those collecting the waste and raised concern over other neglected areas which has been turned to dumpsite areas across the country..

The Lawmaker called on the government to pay close attention to the waste management saying that the government should provide much needed resources allocated to the council in the national budget.

He added that the annual subvention, condition grant and other grants should be paid on time to the councils, adding that this will help the councils to redirect some plans for development endeavour.
