New health center inaugurated at Touba Kolong in Niumi

As part of complementing government efforts in the health delivery system, new health center was on Saturday inaugurated at Touba Kolong in Niumi.
The official inauguration was attended by senior government officials from the health sector and the communities of Niumi.

Marco Marico Vnomasuno, the chief executive officer from the United States of America said the facility will help the community and its surrounding villages to attain to health care delivery.

The cost of the building according to him, worth over D3.3 million describing it as big

“Over 200million women become pregnant and that more than 280,000 resulted to maternal death globally. And of which 90 percent occurred at develop countries, 56 percent in sub-Saharan Africa affecting women living in the rural and poor communities,” he said.

He added in the Gambia, the currents estimates of birth 1000 children, adding the health centre will reduce maternity clinic in toubakolong to reduce material and child mortality.

Other speakers included Ousman sarjo, nursing officer Regional Health Director North Bank West and, Kumba Sanyang; cleaner both expressed similar sentiment at the programme.
