Malang Daffeh on Monday, 21st September 2026, appeared before the Brikama Magistrates’ Court and charged with possessing 56 grammes of cannabis sativa, a prohibited drug.
Daffeh appeared before Magistrate K.B. Sambou on a single count of possession of prohibited drugs, contrary to Section 35(2)(a) of the Drug Control (Amendment) Act 2014.
According to the particulars of the offence, Daffeh allegedly had 56 grammes of cannabis sativa in his possession on or about 26 November 2025 at Kembujeh in the West Coast Region.
The charge was read and interpreted to Daffeh in Mandinka, the language he chose to speak. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecuting officer from the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG), subsequently applied for an adjournment to enable the prosecution to call its witnesses.
Magistrate Sambou granted the application and adjourned the case to 5th November 2026.
The accused was granted bail in the sum of D100,000 with one Gambian surety.
The surety is required to deposit a valid Gambian passport or national identification card with the Registrar of the Court and depose to means.
The case will return to court on 5 November, when the prosecution is expected to call its witnesses.
