The Gambia Tourism Board (GTB) has suspended all open-air music and public entertainment events within the Tourism Development Area (TDA), including activities held on beaches, with immediate effect.
The suspension, announced in a press release dated September 29, will remain in place until further notice.
The board says the decision is a precautionary measure aimed at safeguarding the tourism industry, maintaining public order and protecting the safety and security of tourists, residents, workers, businesses and the wider public within the TDA.
The directive covers concerts, open-air music events, beach parties, festivals and other public entertainment events held within the designated tourism area.
Event organisers and promoters have been directed to comply fully with the suspension.
The Tourism Board also urged stakeholders to cooperate with security agencies and other competent authorities in maintaining peace, order and public safety throughout the TDA.
According to the board, the situation will be monitored in consultation with relevant security agencies, tourism stakeholders, local authorities and other partners.
It said any decision to review or lift the suspension will be communicated through official channels.
The board says it remains committed to maintaining a safe, secure, peaceful and welcoming tourism environment and appealed to all stakeholders for their cooperation and understanding.
