Senegal defeated The Gambia 2-0 on Tuesday in the WAFU A Women’s U-20 Cup of Nations, winning the Senegambia derby played in Bissau.

The match, part of the 2026 tournament, was closely contested between the two West African neighbours, with Senegal taking control through disciplined defending and structured play.

Senegal opened the scoring in the first half through Mariama Fatty, who finished a decisive move to give her side the lead at the break.

The Gambia attempted to respond after the interval, pressing forward in search of an equaliser, but were unable to break down a compact Senegalese defence.

Senegal extended their advantage in the 74th minute when captain Sokna Nogaye Tall scored to secure the 2-0 victory.
