The Magistrates’ Court in Brikama has granted bail to Yankuba Drammeh, who is standing trial for alleged possession of prohibited drugs.
Drammeh appeared before Magistrate M.S. Dem on a single count of possession of prohibited drugs, contrary to Section 35(2)(a) of the Drug Control (Amendment) Act, 2014.
Prosecutor ASP M.K. Bojang, representing the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG), told the court that the accused was found in possession of 108 grams of cannabis sativa.
Court documents indicate that the alleged offence occurred on 7 December 2025 at Brikama Jamisa in the West Coast Region.
The charge was read to the accused, who pleaded not guilty. Drammeh was not represented by legal counsel.
The prosecution applied for an adjournment to allow time to call witnesses and did not oppose the grant of bail.
Magistrate Dem granted the application and admitted the accused to bail in the sum of D150,000, with two Gambian sureties, each above the age of 20, who are required to deposit valid national identification cards with the court registrar.
The matter was adjourned to 6 May 2026 for hearing.
