Ebrima Jallow, Prosecution Witness (PW2), Monday, gave evidence to the Brikama Magistrates’ Court against an accused who broke into a mosque to steal.
Ebrima testified before Magistrate M.S. Dem in the case against Momodou Jallow of Farato, who was charged with “breaking into a building with intent to commit a felony,” contrary to Section 259 of the Criminal Offences Act 2025.
PW2, a resident of Brikama Nyambai, identified himself as a Muazin, the person responsible for calling the faithful to prayer at the mosque.
He told the court that during the early hours of 12th September 2025, while on his usual routine of calling for prayers, he noticed that the mosque’s door had been broken. Out of curiosity, he entered the mosque and found the accused standing near the speaker.
According to PW2, he immediately raised the alarm and sought assistance from members of the community. The accused was subsequently apprehended and taken to Nyambai Police Station, where he gave a statement.
When the magistrate asked the accused if he had any questions for the witness, he replied that he had none.
Following the testimony, the prosecuting officer, CPL E. Fofana, applied for the witness to be discharged and requested an adjournment, both of which were granted. The matter has been adjourned to 20th November 2025 for the testimony of PW3 in chief.
