Greater Tomorrow FC has won the Gambian women’s second division following a thrilling 4-3 win over Gambia Armed Forces at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama this evening.

The league’s top scorer, Elizabeth Ndecky, opened the scoring for the hosts in the 12th minute before captain Wuday Colley extended their lead from a long-range freekick heading into the break.

In a dramatic second half, GAF turned the game on its head with two goals in two minutes from Fatou Beyai and Maria Camara in the 50th and 52nd minutes, respectively.

However, Greater Tomorrow restored their lead through Mesinda Mendy three minutes later, and she put the game to bed with a 76th-minute winner. Substitute Binta Ceesay ensured a nervous final few minutes for the champions after she pulled a goal back for GAF four minutes from the end, but it proved too little too late.

As champions, Greater Tomorrow FC was decorated with a giant trophy and a cheque amounting to D300,000, while second-place Fortune FC and third-place GAF FC received consolation prizes of D150,000 and D100,000, respectively.
