The Brikama Magistrates’ Court Thursday remanded one Lamin Jobe at Mile Two Central Prison pending the determination of his case.
Mr. Jobe appeared before Magistrate Anna O. Mendy on charges of ‘rape’ contrary to Section 3 (1) (d) and punishable under Section 4 (1) (III) (aa) and (bb) of the Sexual Offences Act 2013.
According to the indictment, Lamin Jobe is alleged to have engaged in sexual intercourse with a 4- year-old girl causing her serious bodily harm on Friday the 27th of June 2025 at Brikama Gidda in the West Coast Region of the Republic of The Gambia.
When the charge sheet was read out to the accused person, he pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.
Sergeant 4422 M.J Sallah represented the IGP and the accused person was unrepresented. The prosecution officer then made an application for the matter to be transferred to the High Court due to matters of jurisdiction.
Prosecution Officer Sallah also made application for the accused to be remanded and the presiding magistrate granted the application.
Lamin Jobe (the accused person) did not object to the application for the matter to transferred to the High Court.
