The mobile traffic unit of the Gambia Police Force led by Commissioner Lamin King Colley Tuesday impounded several vehicles within Brikama.

According to the police, the vehicles do not meet the criteria of the motor traffic regulations to ply the public roads as per the roads safety requirements.

About 20 vehicles were impounded by the police traffic unit, which are parked in the Brikama police station premises.

ASP Musa Sisawo, assistant public relations officer of the Gambia Police Force, said the vehicles have failed to display number plates, use tinted glasses without clearance, and other violations.

“Accordingly, owners of vehicles impounded will ensure that requirements are fulfilled before being released. Our message to the public is to cooperate with the Police on this operation by ensuring that any violations of traffic regulations are reported,” the PRO added.

“This is part of an ongoing operation by the police traffic unit in ensuring vehicle owners adjust themselves to the road safety requirements and regulations,” he concluded.
