Influential local politician Momodou Mutarr Bah has asserted that the majority of Gambians would like to see President Adama Barrow’s picture on the ballot box, adding that the President deserves another term in office.

Bah, who lost his bid as councilor for Mayork Ward in the last local government elections, said President Barrow deserves to be returned to office in 2026, considering the trajectory of development on which he launched The Gambia. He added that the President should seek another term because it’s his constitutionally guaranteed right to do so.

“The President deserves a third term, considering the fact that the constitution gives that right. And to maintain peace and security, we should all stand by the President to support him so that he can complete the unprecedented developments he started in the past years. The country’s development should be the priority of every patriotic citizen,” Bah told The Voice in a recent interview.

Bah explained that he formed a Barrow for Third Term movement after losing the ward election.

“We want to show the international community that concerned citizens, who formed Barrow for Third Term movement, are urging the President to stand firmly and ignore all forms of distraction, especially the rumors that he cannot seek a third term in office, he stated. According to him, those voicing their opposition to President Barrow’s return to office for the third time are agents of the UDP.

“The movement “No to Third-Term” are agents of the United Democratic Party. They are the main reason why I decided to form Barrow for Third Term movement to stand by the President. We won’t give up despite the challenges ahead. We will counter any movement that aims to be an obstacle to the President’s developments,” said Bah.
