Kerewan Lower Basic School receives donors’ support

The Head Teacher of Kerewan Lower Basic School has spoken on the need for more support from philanthropists, NGOs, and citizens of Kerewan including people in the Diaspora to support in promoting learning, teaching, and improving sanitary conditions at schools. 

Momodou F S Joof was speaking on Friday during a presentation of 18 desk tables and 36 chairs donated by the Late Master Njundu Darboe Foundation with support from the UK National Police Academy. 

The presentation of furniture was held at Kerewan school grounds in the North Bank Region.

He said the support was timely taking into consideration that it was a time when the school was struggling for tables and chairs for its classrooms, and library while thanking the donors for the timely response. 

The Head Teacher used the moment to launch a passionate appeal for more support to meet the challenges facing the school in terms of roofs, modern toilets for the school, and so on.

Faraba Joof, Principal Education Officer 1 at Regional Education Directorate Region 3 underscored the importance of partnership especially with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in providing support to schools to enhance effective learning and teaching.

He thanked the Late Master Njundu Darboe Foundation for support to the education sector ranging from learning materials and the provision of bicycles to facilitate transportation of the students living very far distances to schools.

Muhamed Darboe Coordinator of the Late Master NjunduFoundation said they are committed to consolidating the legacy of Master Njudu in providing support to schools. 

He, therefore, called on the school authority to ensure proper utilization of donated materials.

Alh.Foday Kumba Fatty, Chairman of the School Management Committee (SMC) thanked the Head Teacher for his commitment to the development of education while AlmamyFatty, Treasurer of SMC called on everyone in Kerewan to come forward and complement school efforts.
