‘I am not guilty of the offense’ – Accused pleads

Alagie Corr who was accused of robbery at Westfield within the Kanifing Municipality on Monday at the Kanifing High Court presided over by Justice Isatou Jallow pleaded not guilty.

When the interpreter interpreted the statement and particulars of the offense that Alagie Corr is accused of, he told the honorable court that “I am not guilty of the offense.”

Lawyers from the prosecution and the defense were asked if they have anything to say and the defense counsel, M Ceesay from the National agency for legal aid (NALA) said she has nothing to say, whilst AA Marong State prosecutor seeks for an adjournment to call his witnesses.

The Statement of offense stated that the accused, AlagieCorr, is accused of robbery.

According to the particulars of the offense Alagie Corr on about the 21st of September, 2022 at Westfield in the Kanifing Municipality of the Gambia attacked and stabbed Mamadou Salieu Jallow with a Broken bottle and forcefully took away his mobile phone mark Pop 4 valued at D7500, a bag containing D2000, sachets of milk and coffee valued at D3000, and two vacuum flasks valued at D2000.

Justice Isatou Janneh however, adjourned the matter to the 22nd of March at 11 am, and the 23rd, and the 29th of March at 1 pm for a hearing.
