The community of Jammeh Kunda in Central Badibou, North Bank Region with support from Belgium donor partners dubbed Stevoort and Jammeh Kunda VZW recently held a training and awarded certificates to 4 youths that completed a three-month intensive training in the areas of horticulture, Poultry Management, and Small Ruminant at Njawara Agricultural Training Centre.
The event was held at Jammeh Kunda and graced by authorities and donors. The training is meant to contribute to youth’s development and complement activities of sponsored Nursery Schools.
Alkalo Lang Gassama of Jammeh Kunda described the intervention of Belgium partners in the education, agriculture, and water sector as a game changer in the transformation of the lives of women and youths. He noted that the establishment of an early childhood development school and training of youths on horticulture, poultry, and small ruminant management would enhance human resource development.
Mama Manneh, Executive Director of Njawara Agricultural Training Centre commended the donor for complementing government efforts in bridging human resources among young people on horticulture, small ruminants, and poultry.
Manneh urged the youths to make the best use of opportunities from the government and donor partners in harnessing skill development.
Ansu Sanyang, on behalf of the trainees, thanked the community of Jammeh Kunda and its donor partners for the opportunity provided to specialize in agriculture and noted that the skills learned will boost food production and employment creation.
He hailed the management of Njawara Agricultural Training Centre for their commitment to skill transfer on women and youths, the adoption of best agronomic practices, and climate-smart agriculture.
