The Public Relation Officer of the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, Jali Morry Njie, revealed that the management has opened an investigation panel in the alleged assault meted on a patient by an unnamed Doctor at the Ndemban Clinic in Bakau.
The alleged video that was shared on Gambia and other social media platforms last week caused a massive debate on social media.
Speaking to King FM on Tuesday, Mr. Njie said: “The highest authority of the hospital has selected very competent people that include those with legal background to be part of the panel. And investigations are currently ongoing and the investigation will soon be completed.
He also said the comment made by the Chief Medical Office (CMD), that they don’t want to destroy the person who assaulted a patient will not undermine the investigation in any way while the CMD is also part of the panel.
He further revealed that they don’t want to give the investigation to the Medical and Dental Council of the Gambia to investigate the matter rather the management of the hospital want to investigate in order for them to learn from the unfortunate incident.
