Sinchu Alagie village alleged murderer arraigned

A 26-year-old man, Alpha Manjang resident of Sinchu Alagie Village has on Tuesday, 20th September 2022 appeared before the Brusubi Magistrates’ Court presided over by Principal Magistrate Muhammed for the murder of Muhammed Cham in Sinchu Alagie.

According to his particular offence Alpha Manjang on or about the 14th of September 2022 at Sinchu Alagie in West Coast Region unlawfully and willfully caused the death of Muhammed Cham by stabbing him with scissors on his chest and thereby committed an offence.

Alpha Manjang has denied the allegation filed against him.

The Chief Inspector Alagie Colley, the Police Prosecuting Officer applied for the transfer of the case to the High Court thus it involved a life and death sentence.

Magistrate Muhammed Krubally noted that the weight of the crime has robbed him from presiding over the case of the accused, Alpha Manjang. The Principal Magistrate, therefore, quoted section 62 of the Criminal Court and said “I hereby transfer the case of Alpha Manjang to the High Court and ordered for the accused, Alpha Manjang, to be taken to Mile II remand prison.”
