The GFF-APS Wallet Men’s Second Division League title race has been thrown wide open after joint leaders Colley Stars and Kanifing East both suffered surprise defeats in Matchday 30 action on Monday.
The round produced major shocks across the country, with Baalor Sarr, Elite United, Menmar Banjul United, Gambia Armed Forces, Sibanor United, and RS Tallinding all recording important victories, while North Star and Suwo Kono settled for draws.
The biggest upset came at the Ousman Saho Football Field, where Menmar Banjul United defeated league leaders Colley Stars 1–0. Yunusa Ceesay scored the decisive goal in the second minute, while Colley Stars were reduced to ten men after defender Essa Jallow received a straight red card in the 76th minute.
In Bakau, Kanifing East also slipped up, losing 1–0 to Serrekunda United. Muhammed Ceesay scored the only goal in the 12th minute to boost his side’s survival hopes.
At the North Star Complex, North Star were held to a 1–1 draw by Wagadu FC. Lamin Badjie gave the hosts the lead, before Abubacarr Njie equalised from the penalty spot for the visitors.
Elite United strengthened their promotion push with a 2–0 win over Wallidan FC at the Live Your Dreams Academy Field in Basori. Cherno Bah and Adama Kujabi were on target.
Baalor Sarr continued their strong form with a 2–0 victory over AJ Soccer in Fabara Bantang. Ensa Colley and Ebrima Saidy (penalty) scored for the home side.
Sibanor United earned an away 2–0 win over Gunjur United, with Bakary Kujabi and Francis Gomez getting on the scoresheet.
Suwo Kono and Unique Global played out a goalless draw at the Soma Mini Stadium.
Gambia Armed Forces recorded a 3–1 win over Marimoo Pakfood at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama. Abdoulie Joof scored twice, while Pa Fara Gomez added a penalty. Raymond Jatta scored the consolation for Marimoo.
RS Tallinding secured a narrow 1–0 win over Serrekunda FC in Kabakel, with Molamin Ceesay scoring the only goal in the 65th minute.
Despite their defeats, Colley Stars and Kanifing East remain level at the top with 54 points each. Baalor Sarr sit third on 48 points, while Elite United and Menmar Banjul United are tied on 47 points, keeping the promotion race tightly contested.
At the bottom, Gunjur United are on 31 points, Marimoo Pakfood on 30 points, and Serrekunda FC remain bottom on 25 points as the season enters its final stages.
