Hawks FC increases title hope, Real de Banjul continues putting pressure

Hawks FC have increased their chance of winning the title after defeating the defending champions, Fortune FC, while Real de Banjul also putting pressure on leaders after their win over Banjul United in a game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Wednesday.

Real de Banjul defeated Banjul United 3-0 during the earlier Banjul-derby game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Wednesday.

Mustapha Jallow scored all the three goals for Real de Banjul. He scored the hat-trick goals in the 12th, 66th and 87th minute respectively.

The City boys, Real de Banjul, now collected their fourteenth victory of the league, while Banjul United suffered their ninth loss of the competition.

Real de Banjul overall collected 14 wins, 7 draws and 6 defeats after 27 games, while Banjul United overall registered 7 wins, 11 draws and 9 defeats after 27 matches.

The victory maintained Real de Banjul at 2nd position with 49 points, six points behind leaders, while Banjul United occupied 11th position with 31 points.

Elsewhere, Hawks FC beat Fortune FC 2-1 during the late encounter played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Wednesday.

Modou Lamin Jarju opened the scoring for Hawks in the 13 minute, before Abdourahman Jobe added the second goal in the 26 minute.

The defending champions Fortune FC pulled one goal back in the 83 minute of the second period.

The leaders Hawks FC now extended their chances of winning the league after collecting their seventeenth win of the league, while the Petroleum boys, Fortune FC suffered their twelfth defeat of the league.

Hawks FC overall recorded 17 wins, 4 draws and 6 defeats after 27 games, while the Farato-based team, Fortune FC overall registered 8 wins, 7 draws and 12 losses after 27 games.

The victory maintained Hawks FC lead at the standing with 55 points, six points above second-place while the defeat put Fortune FC to 12th position with 31 points

At the time of going to press yesterday, on Thursday, Marimoo were taking on Samger FC at the Late Ousman Saho field; GAF were battling it out with Waa Banjul in the earlier game at the Stadium, before GPA playing against Team Rhino in the late game.
