PSV Wellingara extends lead at top, Gunjur Utd record ninth victory in GFF 2nd Division League

Second Division League Leaders PSV Wellingara have extended their lead at the top while Gunjur United recorded their ninth win of the season during the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Second Division League week-24 fixtures played on Wednesday.

The league leaders PSV Wellingara extended their lead at the top of the standings after beating Jam City 1-0 during a game played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum.

Salieu Jallow scored the only goal for PSV Wellingara in the 13 minutes of the game.

The Wellingara-based team, now recorded their fifteen win of the season, more than any other team, while the Jambanjelly-based team, Jam City suffered their fifteen loss of the league.

PSV Wellingara overall collected fifteen victories, three draws and six defeats after 24 games, while struggling side Jam City all together earned five wins, four draws and fifteen defeats after 24 matches.

The result extended PSV Wellingara lead at the top of the table with 48 points, eight points behind second place, while Jam City maintained their place at the rock-bottom on 18th position with 19 points.

Elsewhere, Gunjur United recorded their ninth victory of the season after defeating Jarra West 2-1 in a game played at Lives Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori.

The Coastal Town boys, Gunjur United now recorded their ninth victory of the season, while the Lower River Region-based team, Jarra West suffered their ninth defeat of the league.

Gunjur United overall collected nine wins, seven draws and eight defeats after 24 encounters, while Jarra West overall registered ten wins, five draws and nine defeats after 24 matches.

The win moved Gunjur United to 10th position with 34 points, leveling with Tallinding United, while Jarra West occupied 8th position with 35 points, leveling with Kanifing East and Immigration respectively.

Medical FC played a goalless draw with Dibba Oil during a game played at the Soma Mini-Stadium.

The Central River Region-based team, Medical FC collected their sixth draw of the season, while Dibba Oil now registered their fifth draw of the league.

Medical FC overall collected eight wins, six draws and nine defeats after 23 games, while Dibba Oil overall gathered nine victories, five draws and ten defeats after 24 matches.

The result put Medical FC to 13th position with 30 points, two points behind Dibba Oil, who occupied 11th position with 32 points.
