The Scorpions of The Gambia will today, on Wednesday, play against the Red Devils of Congo Brazzaville during their second outing of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Group G, to be played at the Stade Alphonse Massamba-Debat in Brazzaville at 4pm.

The Gambia opened their quest for their next appearance at the Nations Cup tournament in Ivory Coast next year with a 1-0 home victory over South Sudan, played at the Stade Lat Dior in Thies, Senegal.

Ablie Jallow scored the game’s only goal for the Scorpions of The Gambia during the first half of extra time.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils of Congo Brazzaville started their Afcon qualifiers journey with a 4-0 away defeat to Mali during their opening game played at the Stade de 26 Mars in Bamako on Saturday.

The Eagles of Mali scored all their four goals during the first half period of the game.

Muhamed Camara opened the scoring for the Eagles in the first minute of the game, before El Bilal Toure extended his side’s lead with his brace in the 11th and 40th minutes.

Kalifa Coulibaly wrapped up the score-line with his late strike in the 44th minute of the first half to move top of the qualifiers Group G, leveling with The Gambia.

Meanwhile, coach Tom Saintfiet and his charges will be aiming to collect another three points today (Wednesday) against Congo Brazzaville to extend their chances for a place in Ivory Coast.
